Description
These 3-ingredient biscuits are incredibly easy to make, requiring just self-rising flour, butter, and milk. They are light, fluffy, and perfect for breakfast or as a side for dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup milk (whole or buttermilk works best)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the self-rising flour and butter, cutting the butter into the flour with a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add the milk, stirring gently until the dough comes together. Do not overmix.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and gently pat it into a ¾-inch thickness.
- Use a round biscuit cutter (or a glass) to cut out biscuits. Do not twist the cutter; this ensures they rise evenly.
- Place the biscuits on a baking sheet, ensuring they are touching slightly for a higher rise.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- If you don’t have self-rising flour, you can make your own by combining 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt.
- For extra flavor, brush the tops with melted butter after baking.
- These biscuits are best served warm with butter, honey, or jam.
